The Ultimate Albert Cuyp Market Food Tour: 5 Stalls You Cannot Miss
Authentic Dutch Fries with Mayonnaise

Rudi’s Original Stroopwafels

Next up was the sweet highlight of the day. The smell of warm caramel takes you straight to Rudi’s. Walk for around 10 minutes from the fries stand, and you will come across the truck. This well known “Family run” business create large tasty stroopwaffles. They are freshly made and you can watch them being made. I recommend eating them while they are still hot and a little gooey.
After tasting Rudis Stroopwaffles you will skip the pre packaged ones from the souvenir shops.

Other Market Bites to Keep an Eye On
I was very full after what i ate, i did however have a good look around. So many tasty options.
Kibbeling: Golden, deep fried chunks of battered white fish served in little paper trays with heavy dollops of garlic mayo. It smelled amazing and is a huge local favorite.
Poffertjes: Tiny, coin-sized fluffy pancakes flipped at lightning speed on massive hot plates. Watching the vendors dust a dozen of them with a mountain of powdered sugar looks so tasty.
Aged Gouda Tasting at Johan Kaas

At the market you will also find some clothing, touristy items and general green grocers. There is so much to see and eat at the Albert Cuyp Market.
I found the area was easy to navigate on my solo trip to Amsterdam.
As my hotel i booked it within walking distance of the market i did get to come back enroute to the museum area in Amsterdam.
Planning Your Visit: Hours, Location & Survival Tips
-
- Opening Hours: Monday to Saturday, 9:30 AM to 5:00 PM. The market is completely closed on Sundays.
- Best Time to Visit: Aim for 10:30 AM. All the stalls will be fully set up, but the massive lunch rush hasn’t hit yet.
- Getting There: Take Tram 4, 24, or the Metro 52 line directly to the De Pijp station. From there, it is a one-minute walk.
- Payment & Safety: Almost every vendor accepts card, but keeping a some euros is handy for small bites. Keep your bags zipped, and watch out for locals aggressively cycling through the market intersections!
Head over Sarphatipark: Walk just one block south of the market to find this beautiful, English-style green oasis. It is the perfect place to sit on a bench, escape the market crowds, and digest your food next to the ponds. It is really relaxing there.
Explore the Boutique Shops: The streets running parallel to the market—especially Gerard Doustraat and Eerste Van der Helststraat—are lined with incredible independent clothing boutiques, quirky design stores, and cosy cafes.
If you have managed to eat your way through the market and want a change of pace tomorrow, you could take a quick train ride and visit Zaanse Schans and visit the historic windmills.
On your next trip to Amsterdam make sure you make time to visit this amazing market, you won’t be disappointed.
