Flights and Getting There
Accommodation on a Budget
Bali has a ton of options for every budget. If you’re happy with simple but clean, guesthouses or homestays are perfect. They’re charming, often come with breakfast, and you can meet fellow travelers. If you’re looking for something a bit more comfortable, budget villas or Airbnbs can still be really affordable, especially if you stay a little inland rather than right on the touristy beaches.
A couple of nights in a nice guesthouse or villa can be as little as £10–£30 a night—trust me, it’s more than doable.
Eating Cheap in Bali
Food is where Bali really shines for budget travelers. Forget overpriced tourist restaurants—local warungs (small eateries) serve up amazing meals like Nasi Goreng, Mie Goreng, and Gado-Gado for just a couple of pounds. Markets are also brilliant for cheap snacks and fresh fruit.

Getting Around
Bali is super easy to get around if you’re on a budget. Renting a scooter is cheap and gives you the freedom to explore at your own pace—but make sure you’re confident riding one! Otherwise, apps like Grab or Gojek are great for cheap rides. For longer trips, day tours or buses can get you to temples, waterfalls, and rice terraces without paying too much. I traveled from Kuta to Ubud for our next adventure and it didn’t cost a lot to get there. The only time i used a tour guide (a local one) was to get to the rise terraces.
Budget-Friendly Activities
Bali has something for every type of traveller, whether you’re visiting solo, as a couple, or as a family. One of the things I love most about the island is how easy it is to mix laid-back beach days with cultural experiences and a bit of adventure. The best things in Bali often cost nothing at all. Beaches, rice terraces, and temples are mostly free, and hiking Mount Batur at sunrise is one of those experiences that costs little but gives a huge payoff. Low-cost tours like snorkeling or visiting waterfalls can be booked locally for much less than online packages.
Hidden gems are everywhere—keep your eyes open and ask locals for recommendations, and you’ll find places the guidebooks don’t tell you about.
